Mitigation Program

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the allocation of Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) funds on April 10, 2018.

HUD published the Federal Register notice providing for the use of the $157M CDBG-MIT funds on August 30, 2019.

The South Carolina Disaster Recovery Office (SCDRO) will use Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) grant funds for mitigation activities that will increase resilience to disasters and reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of loss of life, injury, damage to and loss of property, and suffering and hardship, by lessening the impact of future disasters.
